Supervision I am an American Association for Marriage Family Therapy (AAMFT) approved supervisor. I am also licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in New York. I provide individual and group supervision on a private basis. I also provide supervision shared by two people (which is considered individual supervision by the AAMFT). I see supervision as focusing both on cases and on the style and strengths and weaknesses of the therapist. Where possible I think that supervision should include some live supervision or presentation of videotapes of sessions. Consultation and Training I have been and remain involved in teaching structural family therapy to therapists. However, my primary training focus has been in the context of consulting to human service agencies. I am particularly interested in helping public and non profit agencies to work more effectively with families. Both privately, and through the Minuchin Center I have consulted to psychiatric hospitals, foster care agencies, residential programs, drug treatment facilities, and homebased programs. For 6 years I consulted to the Department of Mental Health in Massachusetts and provided training to children's case managers there on how to work with families. Currently I am a consultant for the Adolescent Enhanced Treatment Team at the Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service, a family oriented prevention program focused on high risk adolescents. I also provide supervision to clinicians at Tiger Rap, a school based program in Dover New Jersey. In consulting to agencies I look at policy as it relates to developing a more family friendly environment, and I provide training to staff in developing a family systems viewpoint, working with families more effectively, and specific training on doing structural family therapy. I am also available for case consultations. Workshops and Presentations I am available for one or two day presentations/trainings or workshops on family related topics. Specific topics include: Structural Family Therapy Working with the Larger System Foster Care from an Ecological Family Systems Perspective Homebased Treatment Substance Abuse: A Family Systems Perspective These workshops can be tailored to fit the individual needs of the sponsoring agency. Normally they include showing videotapes of family sessions. They can include a consultation component with the presentation and discussion of agency cases. They can also include a live demonstration session with a family that the agency is working with. 1/2 day presentations are also possible. The Minuchin Center I am a senior faculty member at the Minuchin Center for the Family. The Minuchin Center is a private non profit training institute in Manhattan which provides training in structural family therapy. It provides training for professionals and agencies, offers workshops, and sells books and training videotapes and DVDs. The URL is www.minuchincenter.org
