The Healing Power of Play: Creative Strategies to Strengthen the Teacher-Student Relationship

Every behavior has a meaning and it is our responsibility to discover what children are communicating. Students exhibit many challenging behaviors that can lead to teacher burnout & frustration. This 2-hour workshop will deepen your understanding of childhood behaviors. We will examine social/emotional development and learn how children's sensory systems affect learning and compliance. This workshop will provide play techniques to help children become more expressive. When children are given the tools to understand their feelings, acting out behaviors are greatly reduced.

Workshop Goals:

  • Review basic child development and attachment theory
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the impact of play and learn to identify common play themes.
  • Learn importance of play and emotion
  • Learn fun, creative play techniques to help your students become more expressive.
  • Strengthen your ability to communicate with students, parents and colleagues
  • Reduce teacher frustration and gain self-confidence
